CCTV Expertise

CCTV cameras have become an everyday part of our lives. They can provide evidence that sometimes is the only thing linking someone to a crime. Their data often plays a principal role in a case. People are often convicted or acquitted based on video evidence.

Active in design and installation of CCTV systems for over 15 years we have been admitted to Federal Court as Expert Witness in CCTV evidence. Our background in computers and digital evidence covers a lot of ground in the world of CCTV systems. We not only understand the interplay of all the systems involved, we can also explain it to a jury in a way that is easy to understand.

Although we do not actively install CCTV systems we do consult in both design and implementation of such systems. An effective CCTV system will protect the business or property owner by providing the video and pictures that cover the areas intended and are of a high enough quality that they will stand up in court. Many commercially installed systems we not properly designed and include dead-spots in vital areas. We can help design a system for you that avoids ‘dead’ spots and provides you with the most security possible. Contact us to have us consult on your next CCTV installation

CCTV evidence is often vital in a variety of cases. However it is important to understand that the data doesn’t just exist forever. Almost every system out there operates on some kind of ‘loop’. This is a period of time determined by the amount of storage available, the number of cameras, and the amount of motion being recorded. ‘Loops’ can range from less than a week to months. When a storage device fills up it then starts over- writing previous recordings. It does this by going after the oldest files first. Once the time has passed it is virtually impossible to recover the data.
